BESTMALZ honors exceptional innovations on the topic of “Plant-based proteins for food production”.

We are looking for sustainable business ideas from innovators and start-ups that contribute to the natural production of health-promoting foods.

Subsequent collaboration with our research teams, our network and growth capital is not excluded.

Plant proteins are playing an increasingly important role in the production of food and additives. We are looking for viable business innovations that exploit the enormous potential in this area.

*BESTMALZ production generates many tons of protein-rich recyclable materials
every day. Our experts are researching ways to use them as food.
THE PARTICIPATION CRITERIA

Who can participate*

You fulfill the requirements for participation if …
  • You are part of a high-performance innovation team
  • You have a viable business idea in the field of plant-based proteins
  • You are at the beginning of a successful development, but already have a proof-of-concept (proof of technological feasibility)
  • You are based in Germany or in a country in which BESTMALZ is represented by an exclusive trading partner (see world map)
  • You have a convincing business plan in German or English.
*Employees of Palatia Malz GmbH and our international partner companies are unfortunately excluded from participation.

and send
By October 31, 2024 at the latest
By completing and submitting our application form, you are entering the preliminary round of the ProteoTech Award. Your details will be reviewed by us and if we have any questions, we will contact you for clarification.

Exciting ideas will be accepted until October 31, 2024 and the most interesting projects will be selected from all submissions.

Submission and evaluation of your business plan
Until November 30, 2024
Those selected in the preliminary round receive a confidentiality agreement from us and then send us a meaningful business plan. This will be evaluated by our jury and will be included in the final round.

The round of the last three - the grand finale!
In December 2024
Are you one of the three finalists? Congratulations, because then you will present your idea to our jury personally in a video conference in December and have the best chance of becoming the winner of the ProteoTech Award 2024!

The jury for our award is made up of high-caliber experts who are leaders in their respective fields and bring a broad spectrum of expertise to the table.

A scientist from a leading German research institution who works at the forefront of research in Germany and contributes his/her findings to the assessment.

Managing director of a European biotech company in the food sector with an in-depth knowledge of the relevant technology environment.

Manager of a major international German brewery who assesses the economic and technological aspects of the submitted projects.

Head of R&D BESTMALZ for a well-founded evaluation of the innovative strength and technical feasibility of the ideas presented.

Member of the management board of an innovation start-up (non-food) with a fresh and unconventional approach to evaluating competition entries.

Head of a leading German R&D company in the food sector with a good understanding of financial markets and investment strategies.

Our expert jury guarantees a professional and qualified evaluation of the submitted projects through their background and specialist knowledge.
