BESTMALZ Makes History: BEST Heidelberger Malz Featured on the Ingredients List for the Official Conference Beer of the 2026 Craft Brewers Conference in Philadelphia

BESTMALZ is part of a special collaborative project within the international craft beer scene: For the Craft Brewers Conference® (CBC®) 2026 in Philadelphia, the official “Commemorative Beer” was brewed using BEST Heidelberg Malz.
Under the motto “Of the Brewers. By the Brewers. For the Brewers.”, a unique beer is created each year for the CBC that honors the host city and its brewing tradition. For 2026, brewers from Philadelphia have developed a crystal-clear, classic SMaSH (Single Malt, Single Hops) Pale Lager beer that deliberately emphasizes drinkability, artisanal precision, and select ingredients. With 4.7% ABV, Spalter Select hops, and BEST Heidelberg malt, the beer stands for quality, balance, and heritage.
Recommended by BESTMALZ’s distribution partner for the U.S. and Canada, Country Malt Group, the choice of malt underscores the participating breweries’ commitment to proven German malting expertise. The malt forms the sensory backbone of this lager interpretation and plays a key role in the beer’s clarity, finesse, and stability.
The Commemorative Beer was brewed in collaboration with brewers, suppliers, and industry partners at Yards Brewing Company in Philadelphia—a living example of cooperation within the international brewing community. In keeping with the city’s historic character, the design also draws on American history: The can features motifs from early woodcut prints and references Benjamin Franklin’s iconic “Join, or Die” symbol.
During CBC 2026, the Commemorative Beer was available at the Pennsylvania Convention Center; it was also served at Yards Brewing Company throughout the conference week.
